To all my friends and family that I don’t get to see as often as I’d like, here’s a little something to let you know how we’re doing.
I’ve had my own website for awhile, which is cool, but I never really knew what to do with it. Todd suggested that I just do a blog on the site, but I never could decide if that was what I wanted to do. And besides what would I write about? Then we had Max, and within a week of being born Max had a website too. Until now we have just used Max’s website to post photos, but I started to revisit the idea of having a blog. A couple of things made me decide to finally go ahead and do it.
1.) I’ve been doing some writing about Max, just so we have a record of what we did and when.
2.) We have been taking tons of photos and sending them to our family and friends that live far away, but I have not really been able to keep up with writing to everyone about how we’re doing. (Some things just don’t make it on the to do list when your cuddling with a baby.)
3.) Two other blogs have inspired me. My friend Nanda’s husband Marco has been blogging about their son Alexander since Nanda went into labor. Even though I live in the same town as they do, I still like to go and read their blog and look at their baby pictures. Probably because I have a baby too and am suddenly interested in everyone’s babies:) The other blog that inspired me to finally do this is my friend Alix’s (a.k.a Ponyboy) travel blog. She only posts when she travels with her family, but I love hearing about where she’s going, looking at photos from her trip and hearing a little about what she is experiencing. Even though we only see each other about once a year, reading the blog makes me feel a little closer to Alix.
4.) I didn’t realize how easy it would be until Todd and I sat down last night and put this together after Max went to bed.
My goal is to do a post a week in an attempt to keep everyone updated on what’s going on with our family. I also plan to use this blog as a way to get some of my thoughts about being a new parent out there, so please bear with me. Todd may also add stuff every once in awhile.
Until now I have been posting photos on Snapfish, but I’m not really happy with that service. Guests have to register just to look at the photos. If you order photos, it takes about 2 weeks to get your prints in the mail. And you have to pay to download high resolution photos if you want to print them out yourself. In the next week or two I’ll figure out a better way to post new photos of Max, but for now you can visit our Snapfish page to see them.
By the way, Max is sleeping right now, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this:)
